Widely regarded as one of the best cowboy artists working today by peers and collectors alike, Bill Anton has garnered every major award given in western art . Having studied with Ned Jacob and James Reynolds, Bill’s traditional approach to painting was honed working from life and in intensive studio study. Known as ”a painter’s painter”, Bill is equally comfortable with the landscape, the figure and livestock naturally leading him to focus on the American cowboy.
His awards include the Prix de West Purchase Award and the Prix de West Frederic Remington Award for oil painting, the Masters of the American West Purchase Award as well as many other museum awards for artistic merit. His work is included in the permanent collection of , among others, The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, The Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles, The Gilcrease Museum inTulsa as well as many prestigious private collections all over world. His work has appeared on the cover of books and magazines, in dozens of feature articles and is often the subject of lectures, podcasts and television shows.
Bill and Peggy Anton raised their family just outside Prescott, Az. where they have lived for over 40 years.
